The invention — a telescopic rod cutter designed for supari (areca nut) and coconut harvesting — used an extendable rod with a rope-pull blade system, allowing farmers to work safely from the ground.
As its popularity grew, duplicate versions appeared in nearby markets under similar names and branding. Following a complaint, the case was registered at Bhadravathi New Town Police Station as under: Copyright Act, 1957 – Sections 51(1)(b) & 63 Patent Act, 1970 – Section 108 , Trademark Act, 1999 – Sections 102 & 103
The Maharashtra Enforcement IPR , in coordination with local police, initiated an investigation and supported the legal follow-up against the counterfeit manufacturers. The infringing stock was seized, and proceedings were initiated before the 4th CJ & JMFC Court, Bhadravathi.
